Should i advertise on the knot

Both sites have the potential to add value to your wedding business, and both have proved beneficial to many caterers. Many of our clients and caterers throughout the country have profiles on both sites, and they are doing quite well. Especially with so many options from which to choose on each site — levels of paid profiles, advertisement opportunities, email opportunities, etc. Before you sign up for a profile — before you even talk with a representative from The Knot or WeddingWire — you should take a long, hard look at your own website.

Please take this step seriously because your investment in an online wedding profile will not be worth it if your own website cannot convert visitors into leads. There is a chance you could be one of 12 featured caterers, and therefore potentially listed No. Make sure you take a look at your region before you agree to pay for a featured profile. It could be worth, however, it if there are several pages of caterers without a featured profile.

Sure sounds pricey. I do not pay for a top spot, but rather just a "featured" listing which barely puts me on page one. I have a friend shooting over in Philly who swears by Wedding Wire, so his experience is different. Wedding Wire claims that people are finding me in both places and that I shouldn't think less of their service since both places are being "hit".

So, why would I pay for both? I'm not likely to continue with a paid listing in Wedding Wire unless some drastic number of weddings come through to me from them between now and the end of my contract.

The challenge is, will your listing pay for itself based on what qualified leads you get and how many of those you actually land? The investment is worth it if you have the means to pay for it as the growth happens. Getting some reviews helps, but ultimately you want to get at the top of the listings in one or the other. Currently I don't find you until page 12 of 14 in the "graveyard" of photographers, so there's no point in staying there if you want business.

These are not the only ways to get business. I would be happy to tell you more, but there is a LOT to talk about. I'm just up the road in Medford. If you want to get together and chat over coffee sometime, I do this full time and have a pretty flexible schedule. Michael,I appreciate what you said and it will be used with all the other research I have found. Either way I am finding out it is a risk that is needed for hopeful building of the business. And what did I actually get, over the full year?

Not very much personally. However I was at a lower price point than is average for my market and I made less than the cost of my advertising. I am so grateful I got to shoot that wedding for a variety of reasons. Mostly because they were lovely people and it was an honor to be part of their day. The Knot is a mainstream resource which means an average, even traditional wedding client.

Couples hosting smaller shindigs are barely using the platform, nor are the alternative types of marriers. If people were clicking through they were not finding enough compelling content to stick around and begin a conversation. I was still figuring things out in business and well, life. However I am very glad I chose to try it for myself. I always would have wondered! You see, as a new business owner, you are going to make mistakes learn and grow. You are going to implement the same tactics that your industry pals use, and find that they fall flat. Framing it as a business experiment rather than marketing failure is the way I prefer to see it. So, is The Knot worth it? For me, no. Results really do vary based on your market segment, location, price point, level of competition and style of photography.

Is it one of the more expensive forms of marketing out there? Is it worth it? Totally depends on your business, market, location, competition, experience, work and target client! Enjoy this post? Support with a follow on Instagram zoe. Has advertising on The Knot been worth it for you?

Best Markus. Hi Markus, thanks. I have not gotten many bookings from any vendor directories except A Practical Wedding, where I booked one wedding in Your experience was eye opening, I would have thought you would have received lots of customers through The Knot. So are you saying your website performed better?
