Unable to move or act on his own, he controlled six corpses to carry out his will as part of his "Pain" identity. To match his late friend's hair colour, he had the other Paths' hair dyed to the same colour, including eyebrows. Nagato's first Six Paths of Pain were composed of individuals that Jiraiya had met when they were alive. Nagato implants their black receivers all over their bodies as body piercings. Each of the Six Paths of Pain can be used to perform any technique that Nagato himself is capable of, however, he limits each body to one branch of the Six Paths Techniques , the exception being Yahiko's body the Deva Path through which he performs a number of miscellaneous jutsu; the King of Hell and the creatures summoned by the Animal Path are part of his shared vision.
Nagato refers to each body by the Path it embodies and has them serve specific purposes, be it offensive or defensive, reconnaissance or repair. Each of the Paths has its own importance in a fight — the Naraka Path 's ability to restore all the other Paths making it the most valuable — and therefore, Nagato will sacrifice other Paths to protect those further up the hierarchy.
Because of his lack of mobility, Nagato requires a great deal of preparation time to use his Six Paths of Pain, especially when moving outside his usual residence in Amegakure. Some of the Six Paths Techniques are very chakra-taxing, and in order to use them Nagato must either bring the respective body closer to his position [5] or alternatively cut off control of the other five Paths and focus all of his chakra into the one.
Sensors can track the chakra Nagato spends to control the paths back to him, exposing his real location. This is usually mitigated by Nagato's frequent changing of his chakra signature. It took Naruto stabbing himself with one of Nagato's black receivers to create a direct connection to track him with his Sage Mode sensing. When not in use, Nagato stores the bodies in a hidden chamber within Amegakure's tallest tower. Within the room are six "pods", in which the bodies rested; each pod is connected to the wall via pipes or wires and has a sliding cover that appears to feature the symbol of Amegakure, which conceals the face of the inactive body.
The pods are also numbered from one through six using daiji characters and are ordered counter-clockwise around the room with a numbering scheme that corresponds with the ordering of the six Buddhist Paths of Reincarnation:. But, given his friend's tragic death and Obito's manipulative words, Nagato starts to believe that peace can only be achieved after everyone knows true pain.
With this jutsu, he can control up to six corpses as an extension of himself by implanting black receivers into them. As Nagato channels his own chakra into these bodies through the receivers, each vessel gains control of a different Rinnegan ability or path, like the Deva Path and Animal Path.
He's also able to see everything each body sees, connecting them all through the all-seeing eyes of the Rinnegan. While the Six Paths of Pain gives Nagato god-like power that makes him nearly invincible, its morbid methods are painful and traumatizing for its wielder. The first corpse Nagato selects to control is none other than his best friend, Yahiko. Nagato uses the jutsu to immortalize Yahiko and keep him close as his favorite member of the Six Paths. Given Nagato's ability to speak through his controlled vessels, he often uses Yahiko's body as the face and image of his Pain identity.
Naruto is strong enough to fight the Gods of the verse and the only shinobi who can be considered an equal to him is Sasuke Uchiha. Sasuke is the Yin to Naruto's Yang and it's easy to see why he makes the list as well. Masashi Kishimoto, the creator of Naruto , has made it easy to see that both Naruto and Sasuke progress together and when one gets stronger, the other does as well. Just like Naruto, Sasuke has grown dramatically over the years and can now be considered the strongest there is. His skill with the Rinnegan is impeccable, as is everything else about him.
There's no doubt that he's far stronger than Pain. One of Orochimaru's subordinates, Kabuto sought power after the death of his master and gained it in the form of the Sage Mode of Ryuchi Cave. Furthermore, he absorbed the powers of the Sound Five, along with Orochimaru himself in his body to gain strength that was unmatched at the time.
Kabuto certainly proved to be an exceptionally strong fighter as he was able to hold his own against both Sasuke and Itachi in a fight. He stood at the top of the Warring States Era and was the person responsible for bringing peace to the world, more or less.
When it comes to strength, there's no doubt that Hashirama was in a league of his own. Few shinobi have managed to surpass him and Pain certainly isn't one of them. His strength was enough to take on both Madara Uchiha and the Nine-tails at once and that's something that we doubt Pain can ever achieve.
Madara Uchiha was the leader of the Uchiha clan and the reincarnation of Indra Otsutsuki. He was once considered to be the rival of Hashirama Senju, although it was pretty clear that he was slightly inferior to him.
Nonetheless, Madara's ambition saw to it that he surpassed Hashirama Senju by acquiring the powers of the Six Paths. Pain, unfortunately, pales in comparison to the Uchiha legend. One of the most impressive shinobi to ever exist, Guy showed a glimpse of what he was truly capable of during the 4th Great Ninja War when he took on Juubi Madara Uchiha in a fight. Thanks to his years of training, Guy was able to open the Eighth Gate of Death, which made his powers spike dramatically.
Though Nagato didn't have control of his body, he used his voice to warn his combatants for as long as he could. Life may have ended poorly for him, but in the afterlife, he regained his sanity and showed off his gentle soul.
Tobi, who was actually Obito Uchiha in disguise, was already a disillusioned young man warped by Madara into fulfilling his dream of an ideal world. Pain, on the other hand, was warped by Tobi. Nagato already was struggling with the state of the world when his best friend Yahiko fell. Though that twisted his mind, it was Tobi who corrupted him and turned Akatsuki into a force of destruction.
When heartbroken and lost, Pain became a shell of himself. Obito capitalized on the vulnerable Nagato and made a monstrous puppet out of the once powerful and kind ninja.
The Second Shinobi War was devastating for all parties involved. Villages were destroyed, many lives were lost, and good people did very bad things. During this terrible time, Nagato and his parents kept each other safe and helped the wounded.
When Konoha warriors broke into their home looking for food, the little family tried to sneak out. They were caught, though, and Nagato's parents tried to attack the intruders so that he could escape.
Though the ninja quickly overpowered them, they didn't realize these were only civilians until it was too late. After that, Nagato was an orphan. Finding Konan and Yahiko was the only thing that saved him from growing up alone.
There are two nature transformations that aren't elemental: Yin and Yang Releases. These releases are connected to life forces and energy. Yang Release, in particular, can breathe life into form -- it is creation. While Pain is a master of the style, his signature moves don't come from this Jutsu.
During his childhood, it was more impressive that he could dabble in Yang Release, which was something few adults could even do. However, he does use moves like Chibaku Tensei adeptly, which might draw refinement from his Yang Release abilities. Overall, Nagato's body was impressive then and his capabilities remain impressive to this day. Furthermore, it can only be used by ninja that can use all of the basic nature transformations.
When the ability is activated, the user creates a repelling force which acts as a shield around them pushing everything away. Understandably, that means it's most often used as a powerful defensive move. It can repel even forces like the Amaterasu. However, it can also be destructive, decimating anything it's directed towards. This ability is entirely based on chakra, so it's understandable an Uzumaki would find strength and ease with it. When Pain uses it too forcefully, like when decimating Konoha, it can shorten his life.
For a long time after leaving the Ame orphans, Jiraiya heard from other travelers of their heroic exploits and was proud. However, at a certain point, he stopped hearing about them at all.
He assumed his beloved orphans had been slain and accepted that. That was hardly close to the truth, though.
After Yahiko's passing, Pain and Konan simply went underground and turned their organization secretive. When they were so open, they lost their leader, Yahiko, after all. Years later, after building up quick a system and an army, the orphans resurfaced.
Jiraiya may have thought their bodies and souls passed on, but instead they evolved into something far more horrifying. Despite his later exploits, Nagato was once a shy, kind-hearted child. Yahiko, the most charismatic, idealistic orphan did that.
Though more guarded, Pain was dedicated to Yahiko and they were like brothers. He planned on fulfilling his plans, no matter what. Overall, regardless of being a villain or hero, Nagato did everything for the sake of someone else. He chased Yahiko's dreams for him. Pain brutally took care of Amekagure, even it ended with cruelty.
Mix a warped, corrupted mind with a desperation to help others, and Nagato became a dangerous, relentless foe. After Yahiko's life ended terribly, Nagato desperately fought against the man at fault: Hanzo, the new leader of Amegakure village. After all, the monster caused his best friend's passing and still held his other best friend, Konan, hostage.
